12380 / 27500 finds no channels: Step-by-Step Türksat 42°E Channel and Signal Diagnosis

This guide treats “12380 / 27500 finds no channels” as a diagnostic problem rather than a reason to repeat one frequency forever. Work through channel data, Network/NIT search, transponder lock, LNB configuration, DiSEqC and the physical distribution chain. The objective is to identify the failing layer without an unnecessary factory reset.

These are key network references used for the 16 August 2026 transition. For channel-specific current values, check Türksat’s Frequency List.

01
Diagnosis first

Identify which layer causes “12380 / 27500 finds no channels”

If the problem began with the 16 August 2026 Türksat migration and only the channel list changed, dish movement is not the first step. Services remain at the 42°E orbital position. Start with channel-list refresh, TKGS status and network scanning.

Separate signal level from signal quality. Level can indicate RF energy at the tuner input; quality indicates that the selected transponder is actually locked. High level with zero quality is a reason to inspect satellite selection, transponder, DiSEqC and LNB rather than repeatedly scanning.

02
Two references

Cross-check 12380 V 27500 with 12423 H 30000

The transition guidance highlights 12380 MHz Vertical 27500 and 12423 MHz Horizontal 30000 as key network-scan references, with FEC 3/4. When refreshing the full list, enable Network Search, Network Scan or NIT depending on the receiver wording.

Testing both references also checks two different polarizations. No quality on either usually points to a reception-chain issue before the channel database: wrong satellite/port, LNB settings, cabling, multiswitch or communal distribution.

03
LNB and port

Do not randomise LNB, 22 kHz and DiSEqC settings

A conventional Universal Ku LNB commonly uses 9750 MHz low, 10600 MHz high and 22 kHz Auto. MDU, Unicable/SCR and specialised communal systems can be different, so do not force universal settings on a system designed otherwise.

There is no universal rule that Türksat must be DiSEqC 1/4. A single dish may use DiSEqC Off; a communal system may map Türksat to any configured port. Use transponder quality as the verification signal.

04
Channel list

Use TKGS, network scan and manual scan in the right order

TKGS-capable devices can receive channel-list updates over satellite. Switch to Live TV, check the TKGS operating mode and allow time for an update. If TKGS is unavailable or fails, move to a DVB-S/S2 network scan with Network Search enabled.

If only a small number of services are missing, do not erase the entire list. Look up the current transponder in Türksat’s official frequency list and scan that transponder manually.

05
Physical path

If both references have zero quality, test the RF path

A loose or shorted F connector, damaged coax, wall outlet, failed LNB or multiswitch output can defeat every software scan. Cross-test a known-working receiver on the same cable or the same TV on a known-working outlet to separate receiver and installation faults.

If only H or only V services disappear, the 13/18 V polarization switching path becomes an important clue. If everything disappears, cable, LNB power, DiSEqC or the communal output becomes more likely.

06
Last resort

Why factory reset should not be the first fix

A factory reset can clear channel data but cannot repair a bad RF path. It can also remove Wi-Fi, picture, app and personal settings. Confirm transponder lock and tuning parameters first.

Some manufacturers explicitly require reset for certain model-specific TKGS initial setups. Follow that step only when the official procedure for your exact model calls for it; do not generalise another model’s video.

Recovery steps

Controlled diagnosis in 8 steps

  1. 01

Select Satellite/Live TV as the source.

  2. 02

Confirm Türksat 42°E and the coax connection.

  3. 03

    Check quality on 12380 MHz V 27500 FEC 3/4.

  4. 04

    Check quality on 12423 MHz H 30000 FEC 3/4.

  5. 05

If quality exists, enable Network/NIT search and scan; try TKGS first on compatible devices.

  6. 06

If quality is absent, check 9750/10600, 22 kHz Auto, LNB power and DiSEqC.

  7. 07

If both references fail, test coax, F connectors, LNB, multiswitch or communal distribution.

  8. 08

For isolated missing services, manually scan the current transponder from the official Türksat list.

FAQ

FAQ: 12380 / 27500 finds no channels

Is 12380 V 27500 obsolete?+

No. It remains an important network reference, but 12423 H 30000 should also be checked.

What does Network Search do?+

It uses network information broadcast with the satellite services to discover related carriers.

Is Network Search the same as Manual Search?+

Manual Search targets a transponder; Network/NIT can extend discovery to related carriers.

Can level be 100% while quality is 0?+

Yes. RF level does not guarantee a valid lock on the selected Türksat transponder.

12380 fails but 12423 works. What next?+

Run the network scan from the working reference, then inspect remaining missing transponders and reception quality.

Only horizontal channels are missing. Why?+

Investigate 13/18 V polarization switching, connectors and multiswitch/LNB paths.

Must DiSEqC be 1/4?+

No. Port mapping depends on the installation.

Does TKGS require Internet?+

Basic TKGS channel-update information is delivered over the satellite broadcast.

Should I move the dish because of the 2026 migration?+

Normally no; the orbital position remains 42°E.

When should I call an installer?+

When both reference transponders have no quality and cross-testing points to the antenna, cabling or communal distribution system.
