The trademark registration process in Turkey typically takes about 6-8 months from filing to registration if there are no objections or office actions. This includes the examination period and the 2-month opposition period after publication.

Trademarks can protect words, names, symbols, logos, designs, colors, sounds, and even scents that identify and distinguish your goods or services. The mark must be distinctive and not confusingly similar to existing trademarks in the same class of goods or services.

In Turkey, trademark registration is valid for 10 years from the application date. It can be renewed indefinitely for additional 10-year periods as long as renewal fees are paid. Trademark rights can be maintained indefinitely as long as the mark is in use and renewals are filed on time.

To be patentable, an invention must be novel (new), involve an inventive step (not obvious), and be industrially applicable (useful). Your patent application must include a detailed description of the invention, claims defining the scope of protection, any necessary drawings, and an abstract. The description must be detailed enough that someone skilled in the field could reproduce the invention.

In Turkey, patent protection lasts for 20 years from the application filing date. Unlike trademarks, patents cannot be renewed after this period, and the invention enters the public domain. Utility models, which are a simpler form of patent protection, last for 10 years in Turkey.
