Current minimum for a new profile
Google Search Profile is a new Google Search feature that brings a publisher or creator's website, social accounts, videos and recent content into one profile connected to Search and Discover. This guide explains the profile.google.com/claim/verification flow, eligibility requirements, Knowledge Panel relationship, ranking impact and Search Console measurement using current official Google sources.
profile.google.com/claim/verification is the official Google claim flow. New profile creation is currently US-limited; requires 100K+ followers on YouTube/IG/X or 300K+ on TikTok.
Publisher profile, entity graph, platform properties and claim flow
profile.google.com/claim/verification is part of Google's official ownership verification flow for Search Profiles. Search Profile is not the same product as Google Business Profile. Google's current help documentation says creating a new Search Profile is currently limited to the United States and requires at least one eligible content platform account to meet the minimum audience threshold.
Google's current official help page lists the minimum audience for a new Search Profile as 100,000 on YouTube, Instagram or X, and 300,000 on TikTok. These are product eligibility rules and may change, so verify the official page before applying.

Age requirement for creating a profile
Google announced Search Profiles on June 4, 2026. The feature gives publishers and creators a dedicated, shareable Google profile that can bring together work published across websites, social platforms and video services.
A profile can surface a website, bio, social identities, video channels and recent content under one recognized identity. People may reach it through a direct profile URL, through an eligible Knowledge Panel, or by selecting a publisher or creator name in Discover.
The important distinction is that Search Profile is connected to Google's discovery ecosystem rather than being only another static social profile. People can follow sources from the profile, which can increase the likelihood of seeing more of that source's content in Discover.
profile.google.com is a first-party Google domain. The /claim path is used in the Search Profile creation and ownership flow, while /claim/verification is associated with verifying the person or identity claiming a profile.
When an existing profile is claimed, Google needs evidence that the claimant represents the profile. Google's current claim documentation includes a 'Selfie with ID' verification option, and the process can also rely on linked content-platform identities and other information.
Always verify the browser address bar. A legitimate flow should remain on a real google.com property. A lookalike domain, shortened email link or third-party upload form should not be treated as equivalent to the official Google flow.
Google's current 'Create a new Search profile' documentation requires at least one supported content-platform account to meet a minimum audience threshold. The listed thresholds are 100,000 for YouTube, Instagram and X, and 300,000 for TikTok.
Only one linked account needs to satisfy the threshold. Additional supported accounts can be connected after setup. Google also requires the Google Account owner creating the profile to be at least 18 years old and requires content to comply with Google policy guidelines.
Eligibility for creating a brand-new profile is different from finding an existing profile that Google may already have generated from an established online presence. Check for an existing profile before starting a new creation flow.
New profile setup starts at profile.google.com/claim. Sign in with the Google Account that should own the profile. If you have a YouTube channel, Google recommends using the Google Account associated with that channel.
Connect at least one content-platform account that satisfies the minimum follower requirement. If Google detects an existing unclaimed Search Profile already associated with that account, it may offer the existing profile instead of creating another identity.
Claiming is an ownership process for a profile that already exists. Verification can include linked accounts, additional information and identity verification. Google's claim documentation specifically includes a 'Selfie with ID' option.
Google recommends separate Search Profiles for separate brands or online identities. Its current help documentation also says a separate Google Account is required for each profile.
Search profile.google.com or Google Search using the name or unique handle.
For YouTube, prefer the Google Account associated with the relevant channel.
Confirm that every social/video account shown belongs to the identity you manage.
If requested, complete the official Google Selfie with ID or other verification step.
Suggest corrections for an outdated name, bio, website or social link.
Create Platform Properties for supported networks and measure Search and Discover performance.
Google Business Profile is designed around local-business information such as address, phone number, hours, reviews, service area and Maps presence. Search Profile instead brings together a publisher or creator's content identity across the web.
A Knowledge Panel is an information panel generated from Google's Knowledge Graph for notable entities. A Search Profile is not itself a Knowledge Panel, but Google says claiming a profile may trigger a Knowledge Panel for eligible publishers and creators, while an existing panel may be enhanced with a profile link, updated avatar and recent content.
Having a Business Profile does not automatically provide Search Profile eligibility, and a Search Profile does not replace a local Maps listing.
| Feature | Search Profile | Business Profile | Knowledge Panel |
|---|---|---|---|
| Primary purpose | Publisher/creator content identity | Local business information | Information panel about an entity |
| Social content | Can be consolidated and highlighted | Not the primary purpose | May appear when Google considers it relevant |
| Address and hours | Not the main use | Yes | May appear depending on sources |
| Claim / management | Claimed by an eligible account | Verified by business owner/manager | Eligible people/organizations can suggest or claim |
| Direct ranking boost | No | Does not guarantee general organic ranking | No |
Google's launch announcement says claimed profiles can be customized with an avatar, bio, website, social media, video platforms and other important content. Connected platforms can supply recent content to the profile.
Google's help content says new content from a newly linked social account typically goes live on the profile within about 24 hours. Changes to factual information such as the name, social links or bio may require Google review and can remain pending until approved.
The practical value comes from consolidating a fragmented web identity. Before claiming, align brand name, handle, logo, bio and website across the major platforms so the identity is easier to understand and verify.
Google's official documentation says creating a Search Profile does not directly affect the ranking of your content on Google Search. It should not be marketed or treated as a direct ranking factor.
The feature can still have indirect visibility value. It consolidates a source's identity, profiles and recent content, can support a richer Knowledge Panel presentation for eligible entities, and allows people to follow the source so they may see more of its work in Discover.
The strongest SEO approach is to treat Search Profile as an entity and distribution layer alongside technical SEO rather than as a replacement for it. Organization structured data, consistent official social links, a crawlable website and strong content remain separate foundations.
On July 7, 2026 Google announced Platform Properties in Search Console. This property type measures how Instagram, TikTok, X and YouTube posts perform when discovered through Google Search and Discover.
Platform Properties can show clicks, impressions, individual posts, queries and high-level Insights. This differs from a website property because it measures Google discovery of content hosted on a third-party social or video platform.
On July 29, 2026 Google announced that Platform Properties had rolled out globally to everyone. This is a crucial distinction: new Search Profile creation remains documented as US-only, while Platform Properties are globally available.
Google also states that if a Search Profile is already set up, the corresponding platform data should be accessible in Search Console, making the two products complementary but separate.
Google's current help page for creating a new Search Profile says the feature is currently available only in the United States. The June 4 launch post also described the rollout as US-first and said Google planned to expand to more publishers and creators around the world in the future.
There is no basis to promise an official launch date for Turkey, Germany or other individual countries unless Google publishes one. Some account or existing-profile experiences may differ, but the official eligibility page should be the source of truth for new profile creation.
Search Console Platform Properties are different: Google made them globally available on July 29, 2026, so social and video search performance can be measured internationally even while Search Profile creation remains country-limited.
Use a consistent brand or creator name across the website and official social accounts. Align handles, logo, bio and the primary website URL where possible. Resolve abandoned or duplicate accounts that could confuse the identity.
On the website, use accurate Organization structured data, a stable logo URL and sameAs references to genuinely official social profiles. This does not guarantee a Search Profile, but it is a standard way to help search engines understand official entity relationships.
Set up Search Console Platform Properties now for supported social and video accounts. Query and content data can reveal which topics already earn Google discovery before Search Profile expands to the country.
If you manage multiple brands, plan ownership carefully because Google's current help documentation calls for a separate Google Account for each Search Profile.
First check country eligibility. If new profile creation is unavailable in the current country, a missing option may be expected product behavior rather than a technical failure. Next confirm that at least one linked platform meets the current audience threshold.
If the YouTube channel and Google Account are managed through different account structures, make sure the correct owner or manager is signed in. Google recommends using the YouTube channel with the largest audience when creating the profile.
If a profile does not appear for a name search, Google's help content notes that common names can compete with many other entities. Try a social handle or YouTube @handle that uniquely identifies the profile.
If identity verification fails, confirm the genuine google.com domain, the signed-in Google Account, platform authorization and consistency between the identity document and the claimed profile. Do not upload identity documents to an unrelated third-party verification page.
| Symptom | Likely reason | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| No Create Profile option | Country scope or eligibility | Check US availability and audience threshold |
| Profile found but claim fails | Account/identity mismatch | Verify Google Account and connected social identities |
| Selfie with ID appears | Additional identity verification | Continue only on the genuine google.com domain |
| Profile missing in Search | Query is not unique enough | Search the social handle or YouTube @handle |
| Recent social posts missing | Connection or sync delay | Check the linked account and allow roughly 24 hours |
| Creation fails outside US | Current official country restriction | Wait for Google's rollout expansion |
| No social data in Search Console | Platform Property not configured | Verify an Instagram/TikTok/X/YouTube property |
